PrestaShop’s approach to building its product as an open-platform fits the bigger picture that LiveChat Partners Program has been focused on for a few years now. Rather than relying on direct sales for the users of e-commerce platforms, the company has consistently extended its partnership network in the matter of deep integrations with solutions dedicated to merchants.
The Mission
The goal was to strengthen the message that LiveChat has joined forces with open-source, e-commerce platform PrestaShop. The partnership allows almost 40k merchants to add the LiveChat tool to their online shops. Directly from PrestaShop’s admin panel.
The Outcome
I was responsible for the whole creation of a promotional film from the idea, through the creation of graphics to the finished animation. The final promo video appeared on the Official Addons Marketplace of PrestaShop, LiveChat’s marketplace, press release, and YouTube.
The Impact
The video premiere extends the promotional campaign for the new integration. The number of new LiveChat trials from YouTube compared to the previous month increased by 342,8%.

Pre-production
Together with the talented content writer Daria Zabój we did research and gather the required information from Integrations Developers about the PrestaShop module. We wanted to assure consistency across LiveChat’s communication strategy. Based on the tone of voice, we created a draft of a script. We turned necessary information about the PrestaShop module into a story through several iterations of revising, editing, and proofreading content.

Storyboard
LiveChat’s goal was to simplify the message and show the benefits of using the integration. Having the script ready, I made the initial storyboard. After its acceptance by stakeholders, I took care of the look frames in Adobe Photoshop. The final storyboard consisted of 15 shots.
Graphic design had to match with company communication on social media & web pages. I enhanced the doodle look from LiveChat’s landing pages. Based on black and white photos, I created a synergy between new advanced technology and old school items. Smartly I smuggled the reference to LiveChat’s doodles. One of the shots is hands untying the knot, which looks like a big flourish doodle.

Animation
With produced high-quality graphics, I took charge of bringing the final animation to life. At the beginning of this stage of work, I had to solve visual problems. I had to find the answer on how to make the animation consistent with graphics. To reflect the old, grunge style, I decreased frame rate to bring out the frame by frame character. Other techniques that I used were grunge texture in the background and paintbrush transitions.
Sound
To match visual style, I used sound effects from another decade. When iMac shows on the screen, you can hear old modem dial-up sound. During shot with flying smartphones – key tones from a telephone keypad. Fast music was the opposite of frame-by-frame feeling. I wanted to enhance the tempo by using the intense song.
Photos
The use of stock photos in postproduction is inevitable, although I like to prepare dedicated photo sessions. To PrestaShop promotional video, I used pictures of my hands. One of them was from my private photos. You can see a picture I took in Vienna of my wife’s and my hands in front of the Schönbrunn Palace. The other curiosity is Facebook’s likes counter, which refers to a real number of fans on LiveChat’s fan page during the premiere of the video. I love to add these small details to all my projects.

Press release
If you don’t know, cats rule the internet. And what is the most satisfying thing in the world? A thumb up from the cat that tells you, your customers are happy. So obvious. The number of new LiveChat trials from YouTube compared to the previous month increased by 342,8%. Communication spread about the partnership was a great success.
