Shape Sphere is a preset for After Effects that allows you to generate a pseudo 3d sphere. Preset uses expressions to simulate the rotation of two hemispheres. Shape Sphere is inspired by Sander van Dijk’s rig from the Advanced Motion Methods course from School of Motion.
How to install
Preset works with Adobe After Effects: CC 2022. Download the Shape Sphere preset ZIP file, unzip it, and copy/paste it to the folder Bartlomiej Otlowski in:
PC: Adobe\Adobe After Effects\Support Files\Presets
MAC: Applications/Adobe After Effects/Presets
If you already have a Bartlomiej Otlowski folder, simply copy/paste the content of this folder.
Refresh List in the Effects & Presets panel or restart your After Effects.
How to use
You can find the Shape Sphere preset in the Effects & Presets panel. Type “Shape Sphere” in the search bar or twirl down the *Animation Presets menu. Don’t drag or apply the preset to existing layers. Just double-click on the name, and a new shape layer will be created.
You can set up your sphere in the Effects Controls panel.
- Size: size of the sphere
- Rotation: works clockwise and counterclockwise
- Color A: color of the first half
- Color B: color of the second half
This preset is great for creating pseudo ball rotations and creative transitions. You can use it as a Luma Matte and reveal photos and footage in just a few clicks.
